Man Sues Hospital After Surgery For Fractured Penis Makes It One Inch Shorter

Posted in: , ,

An anonymous Canadian man  is suing a hospital for $155,000 Canadian (about $142,000 U.S.), claiming negligence and "indescribable anguish". The man had fractured his penis while having sex with his wife and surgery at the hospital to correct the injury allegedly left him with a dick that was "about an inch" shorter than before.

Wondering how a penis can be fractured? Wonder no more!

A fracture can occur when there is trauma to the erect penis. If it is bent suddenly or forcefully while engorged, the trauma may rupture the lining of one of the two cylinders in the penis (corpus cavernosum) responsible for erections. The injury is often accompanied by an audible cracking sound, then dark bruising as blood escapes from the cylinder.

According to the man's lawsuit, he first went to the hospital after his injury and was told by a nurse, who did not physically examine his penis, and an off-site urologist that he wouldn't require surgery. But then, he still couldn't have sex after three months, and that was when he came back, and they finally told him he needed an operation.

However, the surgery allegedly left a "permanent scar", a continued inability to have sex, and the afore-mentioned shortened appendage.

The man, who is paraplegic, claims the experience led to the end of his marriage. He described the trauma thusly:

"This has caused a greater impact on my life than when I lost the use of my legs."

I feel for him, but surely 155,000 cannot get his wife or his former penis back?
