Oprah Celebrates Barbara Walters With Katie Couric, Robin Roberts, and More Media Women

Posted in: , ,

This week Barbara Walters said her final goodbyes to being one of the regular faces on THE VIEW. For today's show, a surprise appearance from Oprah Winfrey leads to a roll call that left me with chills. The good type, though. Oprah says she came with some people, and then she starts introducing other women in the media, and they were all there!

Walters, 84, created The View in 1997 and she will retire tomorrow after a television career spanning more than five decades. The 25 incredible female journalists all say they were influenced by Barbara Walters to go into broadcast and communication. Wwo, what a legacy!

The major farewell started yesterday when all 11 co-hosts of The View assembled to honor Barbara Walters who is retiring from being in front of the camera on the daytime talk show.

In a special segment called “Déjà View,” the co-hosts sat around one giant table and caught up on what has happened in their lives since they left on the show. They also shared their favorite memories of Barbara Walters.

Today, guests Hillary Clinton and Michael Douglass also stopped by to chat with Barbara Walters about their latest projects, reminding me of the clout that Barbara Walters brought to that show.

I'll certainly miss Barbara. Though I didn't always agree with her views on the show, she had this old school charm, and gave respect to their guests and the other co-hosts. I've also always been amazed by her giant strides in her chosen profession. She has basically spoken to any notable person be it in politics or in entertainment.

Barbara Walters will continue to executive produce The View and I hope the show keep on rising, just as I wish Barbara all the best in her endeavors.
