Blogger and Makeup Artist Adenike Ogungbe Dies in Childbirth

Posted in: ,

I was saddened to read the news of Adenike Ogungbe's death, not because I knew her personally, but that she was a blogger, and had died in childbirth tugged at my heart. In her last post on her blog, she had written, "Its being a while, i've being off the radar for sometime now due to 'Nature's call'. I honestly can't wait to get back to work and blogging regularly too."

Her blog was not a personal one, she and her team posted lovely pictures of brides they had done the make-up for their weddings, all gorgeous, all smiling, and her writing was always graceful as she described the ladies and their looks and makeup choice. Reading the blog [HERE], I could just imagine that I knew her.

And then I came across these set of her pictures that she's had taken, celebrating her transition to natural hair and the complimenting natural-look makeup. She is definitely a beautiful woman, inside and out.

It is a consolation that her baby survived, but for her husband and those who knew and loved her, the pain of her loss must still be immense. May they be comforted, and may Adenike rest in peace.

  1. So sad. May her soul rest in peace.

May her soul rest in peace....
It is the reason we should never take anything or anyone for granted for we never knwo when God will call us home.

    She was a beauty.

  5. Adieu Nike. God loves you more.

  6. Awww...R.I.P NIKE

  7. I heard that last night and was sad indeed.
I think she was the woman behind Ewar -a renowned make-up outfit in Lagos.

How and why should a woman still die of childbirth in Nigeria? I am afraid oh.

Rest in God's perfect peace dear sister.

  8. So sad a news!May her beautiful soul rest in peace and may the Guardian angels from heaven be always by her baby's side to protect her from evry evil..Amen

  9. Hmmmm! May she rest in peace and may God give her husband fortitude to bear the loss.

  10. It's a pity....may her soul RIP. #awfulmuch

  11. sad, so sad... did she give birth in nigeria??
1 out of all 10 women die from child birth daily

  12. Like many others, I believe her death could have been prevented especially the circumstance leading to it. Why was she taken to a hospital in Sagamu? My heart is heavy and deeply broken. She deserved better than she was given. Justice must be served! ''The powers that can'' should please investigate. It will not bring her back but the truth will be known and others can learn from it. I can't stop crying..

  13. So sad news. You are looking so beautiful and gorgeous. Thanks...
