  13. The word Easter comes to us from the Norsemen's Eostur, Eastar, Ostara, and Ostar, and the pagan goddess Eostre, all of which involve the season of the growing sun and new birth. The Easter bunny arose as a symbol of fertility due to the rapid reproduction rate. The ancient Egyptians, Persians, Phoenicians, and Hindus all believed the world began with an enormous egg, thus the egg as a symbol of new life.
Personally, I just like cute little bunnies, deviled eggs, and chocolate.

  47. historically easter bunnies are associated with the Virgin Mary bec. it was believed they're hermaphrodites and can reproduce without mating. As for the eggs, it seems to have started as something aesthetic and eventually became tradition.

To make it fun and family friendly, a hunt made of choco eggs have become tradition and evolved into this.

    Happy Easter!

  82. For me personally, it's not about eggs or bunnies at all. I mean, I have a 6 y/o daughter who does get an Easter basket every year delivered by the Easter Bunny, along with eggs the Easter Bunny hides. However, the Easter Bunny also leaves a letter for her every year explaining that though he loves delivering treats to all of the good little boys and girls every Easter, it's important to remember that Easter is not about treats, it's about Jesus and the Resurrection... It's just how we celebrate in our house.

The Easter Bunny derives from an ancient church motif of hares and its comparison to the thought that they could procreate without losing their virginity, which is indicative of the Virgin Mary. The eggs are symbols of fertility, which is a customary theme of the Easter season falling during the spring---rebirth, growth, etc.
