83 years old Carmen Dell'Orefice has made headlines as she appears on the special edition cover of New You magazine. One of the earliest super-models, Carmen Dell Orefice has been in the industry for almost 70 years, and says she's rocking her age, white hair and all.
"I have had more magazine covers in the last 25 years than I have had in my whole elongated career. Today I am in a territory that business considers unmarketable: age and white hair. Slowly, however, I started to own that territory little by little because I stood up for age."
On New You, the fashion icon talks about love, still having sex at her age and the secrets to her success. Sex at 83, something to look forward to eh? Carmen Dell'Orefice does look amazing! She says about her sex life;
"Of course I still have a sex life, why would I give that up. Do I love to breathe? If you have a Rolls Royce and it is up on wheels, you go in with the key and every now and then turn on the motor to make sure the motor is running. So when you want to drive the car, it is all oiled and ready."
Along with this and other magazine covers, Dell'Orefice is also still working the runway -- most recently, according to HuffPo -- in Singapore for Digital Fashion Week.
It seems like more and more, Fashion Indutry is realizing that their customers are not perfect barbies, but are real women, and want to see that reflected in the models we see on magazine covers and runways. Sports Illustrated recently showed its readers that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, with a couple of plus size models, Robyn Lawley in an editorial, and Ashley Graham in an ad.
Also, New York Fashion Week is showing Carrie Hammer with her #rolemodelsnotrunwaymodels campaign, which will have actress Jamie Brewer, who has Down Syndrome, strutting her stuff on the runwway..
