Chinese Bai Aixiang is a master of all trades, she cooks, washes, embroiders, and even shaves her husband’s head with her feet. She contracted polio at the age of 12 which left her hands permanently deformed while a later disease robbed her of what little use she had left.
Her loving husband is 70-year-old Chinese man and she loves him so much that she shaves his head with her feet. The couple have been married for almost 17 years and live in Heyuan, in north-western China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
Nevertheless she did not give up and taught herself how to use her feet to carry out day-to-day activities. Speaking about her disability the woman said,
“I learned to do many of the things an able-bodied person would do.
I knew that one day my parents would not be around for me and in any case even as a young girl I managed to learn a lot of stuff just by using my feet. I can cook, I can even do needlework or wash clothes or whatever. Shaving my husband’s head is really quite easy in comparison with sewing.”
And her husband trusts her enough to allow her do it. Bai was introduced to widower Ma when she was 33 and he was 54. The man immediately fell in love with her and asked her to marry him despite the 21-year-age difference.
Bai is well-known in the village for her capabilities. She not only maintains her family in a good order, but also helps local poor and disabled people to make clothes and do home chores.
