Halle Berry recently took her ex-boyfriend and baby daddy Gabriel Aubry to court to reduce the amount of child support she has to pay to him for thejoint custody he has of their six-year-old daughter Nahla.
Now, the two are back in court again over what Halle thinks are racial tensions. Halle Berry took Aubry to court this week for trying to make Nahla look "white," and always straightening her hair.
According to TMZ;
Halle was furious Gabriel was straightening Nahla's naturally-curly hair, lightening it with highlights and she is convinced it's because he does not want the girl to appear to be African American.
Halle didn't show in court Monday morning, but her lawyer Steve Kolodny did, along with Gabriel and after a lot of arguing the judge ruled NEITHER Halle nor Gabriel could change Nahla's look from its natural state.
Reportedly, the judge "is allowing Nahla's hair to grow back naturally."
This is not the first time Halle had made a point about the race of Nahla. Back in 2011, she had said that she "feels like" Nahla is black. She explained:
I'm not going to put a label on it. I had to decide for myself, and that's what she's going to have to decide—how she identifies herself in the world. And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That's how I identified myself.
But I feel like she's black. I'm black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory.
Do you think Halle Berry has a point, or over-playing the race card in a simple hair styling disagreement with her baby daddy?
