#MarvelEvent - Black Panther & Carol Danvers Are First Black and First Female Movie Superheroes!

Posted in: , ,

Actor Chadwick Boseman, above, has been announced to play the first black super hero, Black Panther in a 2017 Marvel comics film of the same name. The actress to play the first female on-screen superhero Carol Danvers was not named, but she will be appearing in a Captain Marvel film, out in 2018.

These announcements were part of a press conference by Marvel Studios execs including president Kevin Feige, Joss Whedon and many more. Fans of the comic books were thrilled as Feige revealed the movie release dates of the next 10 movies from the hollywood studio. Some are originals while others are sequels.

The list according to Buzzfeed, reads as follows:

Ant-Man (July 17, 2015)

Captain America: Civil War (May 6, 2016)

Doctor Strange (Nov. 4, 2016)

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (May 5, 2017)

Thor: Ragnarok (July 28, 2017)

Black Panther (Nov. 3, 2017)

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 (May 4, 2018)

Captain Marvel (July 6, 2018)

Inhumans (Nov. 2, 2018)

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 (May 3, 2019)

Chadwick Boseman was also at the event and expressed his happiness at joining the Marvel Universe.

“I’m blessed to be a part of this Marvel universe, and I’m looking forward to making magic together.”

I enjoyed Boseman in last year's 42, the movie based on the true life story of Baseball player Jackie Robinson in the civil rights era. I didn't watch him as James Brown in Get on Up this year, but I know he got good reviews. All the best to him as Black Panther.

I have only one complaint - why does Guardians of the Galaxy have to be so far away?!
